What to focus on

The core topics are straightforward, but they need repetition.

  • Times tables and fast mental arithmetic without a calculator
  • Whole-number addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Decimals, money calculations, and percentage change
  • Fractions, simplification, and fraction operations
  • Basic algebra, formula substitution, and simple rearranging
  • Electrical maths such as Ohm’s Law, power, and resistance

  1. 1Days 1 to 3: times tables, whole numbers, and written division.
  2. 2Days 4 to 6: decimals, money, and percentages.
  3. 3Days 7 to 9: fractions and simplifying answers cleanly.
  4. 4Days 10 to 12: algebra, formulas, and electrical maths.
  5. 5Days 13 to 14: timed multiple-choice practice with no calculator.
