Fraction → Percent

Make the bottom 100 — then the top is your percent.

How it works

  • 1Percent means out of 100, so your job is to make the bottom number 100.
  • 2Whatever you multiply the bottom by, do exactly the same to the top: 7/20 → 20 × 5 = 100, so 7 × 5 = 35.
  • 3Once the bottom is 100, drop it: 35/100 = 35%.
  • 4Backup plan: divide top by bottom and move the decimal — 7 ÷ 20 = 0.35 → 35%.
  • 5Probability works the same way: 7 out of 20 tickets win → 35% chance.

Worked example

7/20 as a percent
20 × 5 = 100
7 × 5 = 35
35/100 → 35%
