How to set it out on paper

Stack it like normal column multiplication — the point gets its own gap.
Hide the point and multiply right to left: 7 × 8 = 56, write 6 carry 5. Then 7 × 2 = 14, plus 5 is 19 — write 9 carry 1. Then 7 × 5 = 35, plus 1 is 36.
The point drops straight down: 369.6.
Check it makes sense: 52.8 is nearly 53, and 53 × 7 ≈ 370. So 369.6 is right — 36.96 or 3696 would mean the point slipped.
